Stars & Stripes

This quilt I made reminds me of things "American". I love red, white, and blue, hearing/singing the National Anthem, watching our flag wave in the breeze, and saying the Pledge of Allegiance. As we celebrate Memorial Day, let us remember all the people that have sacrificed their time and their lives to serve our country and let us salute those that are serving now.

Happy Grad!

This card was made with the single stamp "Happy Grad" from the Summer Mini. I used the little star from "Nursery Necessities" and Night of Navy background paper from the Patterns Pack III. It was mounted on Summer Sun card stock and I added a little Night of Navy ribbon. 'Tis the season--congrats to all the grads!

Triangles & Squares

I don't know if it was more fun to hunt for all this fabric or to actually make the quilt. Each square is made with four pieces; the triangle and the three surrounding pieces to make the square. I saw a sample using this pattern in a quilting magazine and actually called the store on the East Coast to find out the name of the pattern. I had to have it! Then I searched all over the Phoenix area to find the pattern that had been discontinued. I finally found in a discount bin at a quilt shop 40 minutes away--what luck! I first draped it folded on the rocking chair and then decided it needed to be on the wall. It is now hanging over our fireplace in the living room.

Pixie Pink

Say goodbye to "Pixie Pink", it's leaving us soon--"So Sorry"! I used my Big Shot and the Scallop Circle Die with Razzleberry Lemonade DSP to make the background circle that I placed on Kraft card stock. Then I stamped the ice cream cone with "Sweet Scoops" and the words with "In a Word" with Soft Suede. I just love these colors together!

Layer Cake Quilt

This is the quilt I just finished binding. I used a layer cake (package of 40-10"x 10" squares). As you can see some squares were cut up into sixteen pieces, some into four, some left whole, etc. This fabric collection is called "Birdie" from Moda. You can see why in the close up shot. Here's the whole quilt, it measures about 40" x 50"--perfect size for a crib or wall hanging. These were such fun, springy colors to work with!

Candle Crazy

I used the "Candle Crazy" and "Birthday" builder wheels to make this card. The ink colors are So Saffron, Bashful Blue, and Chocolate Chip. I colored the candles in with the coordinating markers along with Certainly Celery and added a bow (of course). The winner of this week's give away was Marianne! Thanks to all of you that left comments--I appreciate it. Watch for more new cards, quilts, and other projects.

Blissful Bride

Here's a simple wedding card made with "Blissful Bride" using Pretty in Pink and Basic Black. I ran a piece of Whisper White card stock through my Big Shot using the Texture Plates Kit #4. It's a little hard to see that background, but you can click on the picture to make it bigger. Then I stamped the dress and colored the sash and flowers with a Pretty in Pink marker. This piece and the words (on the pink Scallop Circle punch piece) are popped up with Dimensionals. I used the Scallop Edge Punch on the bottom and added a strip of Basic Black black behind. Finally, I completed it with Basic Black Satin Ribbon.

Reinventing the Wheel

Stampin' Up! has a new product, Builder Wheel Spindle and Spacers. You can put two or three small wheels into the jumbo handle and create this. I used "Candle Crazy" and "Birthday". On the bottom I used the "Cupcakes" wheel with the standard handle. I also stamped one cupcake and punched it out with the 1 1/4" circle punch and colored it with markers. I mounted it on a piece of Crushed Curry card stock punched with the 1 3/8" circle. Last I used a Pink Passion Scallop Circle with Bermuda Bay Polka Dot Ribbon.

The words are from "Happy Everything" and "Warm Words". The cute background papers are called "Island Oasis". I used the new die "Island Floral" for the turquoise and saffron flowers and the XL Fancy Flower Punch for the olive one. I also added a Pumpkin Pie corduroy button. Aloha!

This week's give away is "Little Flowers" (sorry it's blurry, it's on page 120 in the catalog). Please leave a comment between now and Wednesday to have your name entered in the drawing to win this cute set. It reminds me of the new set below called . . . . . . "Itty Bitty Bits". I used Pretty in Pink card stock and punched out 1 3/8" squares from the Chocolate Chip Patterns DSP. Then, I stamped Chocolate Chip Itty Bitties on Whisper White and punched them out using the new Punch Pack. Finally, I used clear Bitty Buttons on the images. The words are from "Best Wishes & More".

The ice cream cone was stamped and then mounted on Real Red and popped up with Dimensionals. Ink colors used were Real Red, Pretty in Pink, and Creamy Caramel.

Bouquet Bunch

This stamp set, "Bouquet Bunch", has eight separate pieces to create the cutest plants and bouquets. I used Baja Breeze, Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, and Whisper White card stock. The words from "In a Word" and images were stamped with Chocolate Chip ink. I punched out a little flower using the new Punch Pack and attached it with a brad. I colored the leaves and the flower pot with blender pens. Finally I rounded the corners with the Corner Rounder Punch and added some Old Olive ribbon.

Birthday Block

This card was made using the new single stamp "Birthday Block". It was stamped in Tempting Turquoise and backed with Rose Red. The striped paper is from the DSP pack Island Oasis. Here's the Scoop

This card was made using the sets "Family Phrases" & "Sweet Scoops". I used Chocolate Chip Patterns DSP on a Regal Rose card. Four ice cream cones were stamped for the background with Regal Rose. Then I stamped a Chocolate Chip cone on Whisper White and separately stamped the scoop complete with sprinkles. I cut out the single scoop and popped it up with a dimensional. I also used my Regal Rose marker and Spritzer to add some color. Yummy!

Nine-Patch Lattice Quilt

I just finished this quilt! The colors are really more vibrant than the photo shows (click on it to enlarge it). This was an easy quilt to make using nine fat quarters. They were cut into strips, sewn, cut, and then assembled into squares. Look for new cards and a give-away posting soon!

5.05.2010

Rectangular or Round?

Which one do you like better? These cards were made from the "On a Pedestal" set. The background papers are "Cottage Wall" and the colors used are Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, and Old Olive. I stamped the words from "A Little Birthday Cheer" and then used the Modern Label Punch and the Word Window Punch. The words and images were popped up with Dimensionals.

Car Cozy

All tied up and ready to go--have cars will travel! There's a pocket for each car.
Cars on the road!
I made this double-sided using cotton fabric and felt (black & yellow). I stitched the lines on the bottom part a couple of inches apart to create a pocket for each car. Then added ribbon to tie it up. What little boy (Blake) wouldn't love this?
