Snapshots

...and yet another quilt finished this summer. It's from the pattern Snapshots from the book Happy Hour by Atkinson Designs (love her patterns--so easy to follow). I used fabric from Henry Glass' "Wildflowers" line. After finding two fabrics I forgot to use in my stash (bought later than the originals), I ripped out five squares (thus the fancy backside below) and redid it. In all my frustration, I probably should have taken "before" and "after" shots to show the improvement.

Blissful Bride

Tomorrow is the big day for my daughter's sister-in-law! Her wedding color is coral, so I made this card with the cake from "Blissful Bride" to go along with the gift. I used the Cameo Coral marker (now retired) to color the little flowers along with the Spritzer to add some "spots". I ran the white card stock through my Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. Then, I used the Oval Scallop, Straight Scallop, and Oval Punches and added a Whisper White 5/8" Satin Ribbon to finish it off. Congratulations Tricia and Jacob--have a wonderful day!

What's a Girl To Do?

I have been in high-speed sewing/quilting mode the last couple of weeks. You see, I'm marooned on an island with a sewing machine and a surplus of fabric. Here's my latest creation using the Riley-Blake fabric line called "Rainy Days & Mondays" and the pattern "Swizzle Sticks". Here's close up of one of my favorite fabrics in the quilt.
This block shows the way-cute umbrellas on the fabric. Stay tuned--I have more quilts in progress soon to be revealed.

Sort It, Bin It, Label It

I saw something on another blog that stated, "Being organized is being able to find anything in five minutes" and it reminded me of when I reorganized my closet. There were lots of shelves already there, but I didn't want stacks and piles of stuff sitting on them. I also wanted to be able to find anything in two minutes or less. So, I went to Lowes and found these canvas bins in two different sizes. They even matched my bedroom (bonus). I was able to use my 10% off coupon on all of them that I received for changing my mailing address (which we do every six months). I sorted the junk and loaded the bins up; some are already overflowing, but at least the items are corralled (is that a word?). Then, I typed labels in brown on matching card stock (Baja Breeze) and slid them in the "pockets". Ah, that's better--if I could just get the husband to put his stuff IN the bins instead of BESIDE the bins. :)

What a Hoot!

Here's a card made with the new Owl Punch from Stampin' Up!. The background was stamped with "Pretty Pattern" and the words with "A Word for You". Colors used were Marina Mist and Early Espresso.

Plenty of Petals

There are plenty of petals here! I stamped with the set "Printed Petals" in Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi, and Early Espresso and then cut the images out. I zig-zagged a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock onto the Crumb Cake card base. I layered the flowers with a button, a flower brad, and 1/8" Early Espresso ribbon. I also used the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack to punch out some of the little circles and popped them up with Dimensionals.

The First Cottage Quilt

Seven years ago while we were building our cottage, I broke my leg (in an unrelated ice skating accident). I couldn't do much except stamp, sew, and knit. My sister knew I was decorating the cottage in nautical colors. While I was laid up, she brought me a bag of red, yellow, and blue fabrics and said, "Make a quilt out of these". This was the first thing I hung up when we moved in. It fits perfectly above a little desk in my kitchen adorned by a matching watering can my sister-in-law bid on at an auction and surprised me with!

Circle Circus

Another one of my favorite sets--"Circle Circus". I love this set and all you can do with it! I used a Wild Wasabi base then stamped images in that color, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, and Daffodil Delight. I used different size circle punches and popped up some of them with Dimensionals. The little circle was punched out using the 1/2" Circle Punch and placed under a clear Build-A-Brad. Last, I added a 1 1/4" piece of Pumpkin Pie Striped Ribbon with a simple knot. Words could be added to this for any occasion.

Wheel Builders

This card was made using three wheel builders that fit into the jumbo handle: So Many Stars, Birthday, and Candle Crazy. I stamped them all in Marina Mist and then colored some Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, and Daffodil Delight markers. The trim at the bottom is from the Brights DSP Stack (Daffodil Delight) and the ribbon is 1 1/4" Certainly Celery Striped Grosgrain.

This quilt has big blocks each made of three different fabrics. It has blues, olives, browns, and tangerines. Click on the picture for a closer view. Here it is hanging on the railing . . . . . . and here it is flat--hopefully you can see how big it is. This quilt is for sale--contact me if interested.

Baby Steps

This adorable card was made from the single stamp called "Baby Steps" using Basic Gray and Regal Rose. I stamped the background using "Pretty Pattern" in Versamark. This stamp is only $8.95 and makes a cute card or shower invitation.Marianne is the winner of a free ink pad of her choice for leaving me a comment (actually emailing me a comment) about my blog.
