What?

Say what? This is what we woke up to this morning. Usually, the view out the kitchen windows in the morning is of the sun rising over "Four Peaks", but today we saw snow. These mountains aren't very far away and this is the lowest the snowline has been in twenty-some years. Luckily, we just had rain at our house. This view is from the front of our house--including a cactus in the yard.

And finally a view from the patio just before sunset. You can see the six o'clock fountain in the distance as well. The fountain goes on every hour to the height of about 330 feet. Over the weekend they ran it at full height, around 550 feet to celebrate the big art fair in town.

Sew Suite

As a sewer, I love this new DSP called Sweet Stitches I used "Sew Suite" to make the "button card" part. It reminds me of all the button cards my mom had when I was a kid and they each cost a dime. The actual buttons were made from "Button Button", stamped in Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, and Wild Wasabi, and punched out with the 3/4" Circle Punch. I popped the buttons and the card up with Dimensionals. Then, I made the yellow trim with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch and added an Early Espresso 1/8" Ribbon. Finally, I zig-zagged in yellow thread across the bottom.

A Set of Sleepers

I just love baby cards! I made these two cards using the hostess set "A Slice of Life" from the Occasions Mini Catalog. I used a striped background paper from the Subtles Patterns Desiger Series Paper Stack. The Whisper White was run through my Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (of course) and layered either on Bashful Blue for a boy and Pretty Pink for a girl. I stamped the little sleepers (actually Marianne did for me), cut them out, and popped them up with half pieces of Dimensionals because they are so tiny. The Whisper White circle was punched with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch and mounted with a scallop punched with the 2 3/8" XL Scallop Circle Punch. The words are from "A Word for You". Last, I added a button tied with white embroidery floss and a Whisper White 1/8" ribbon.

Blue Butterfly

Here's one of the cards we made at class while I was in Michigan. We stamped the butterfly from "Bliss" from SAB in Marina Mist and cut it out. We added two Basic Pearls and popped it up with a Dimensional. Under the butterfly is stamped another image from "Bliss" in Whisper White on Crumb Cake card stock. The bottom trim is made by sewing a piece of Whisper White 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon onto a piece of Marina Mist from the Subtles Patterns Designer series Paper Stack.

Sunflowers

We made this happy little card at our downline meeting last Saturday afternoon in Michigan. It was made using the "Build a Blossom" stamp set and the coordinating Blossom Petals Punch. I stamped the petals in Daffodil Delight and then punched them out. The "centers" were by punching out Early Espresso card stock with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch. Then I cut the circle in half and ran it through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. The stems were made by cutting 1/8" strips from Garden Green and the leaves with the above punch. I mounted it on a piece of polka dotted Real Red from the Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack and added two buttons from the Ice Cream Parlor Ribbon & Button Pack from SAB.

Pattern Pieces

This adorable card was made by Mary and I just had to share it! She stamped the new single stamp called "Pattern Pieces" in Crumb Cake and mounted it on Night of Navy. The Rose Red and Pear Pizzazz buttons were made with the Buttons #5 die on the Big Shot. The Very Vanilla 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon was gathered and adhered to the card and the words are from "A Word for You".

Where Are They?

Okay, it's the day after Valentine's Day and where are they? I want them, no, I NEED them, and I am going on a hunt to find them! As you may notice, this bag is empty and has long been that way. Why do these yummies only appear before Easter? Wish me luck on my quest!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I made this wreath using about 120 felt circles cut with the 3" circle die on my Big Shot. I folded each circle twice, put a pin in the point or corner of the folds, and then poked them into this styrofoam wreath. I added a red satin ribbon on the back and hung it on my door. It looks like roses, doesn't it? Have a Happy Valentine's Day!

Love Birds

These flamingos are from "Love Defined". I stamped them in Regal Rose and punched them out with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch. Then I mounted it on a Pretty in Pink Large Scallop. The background paper is from the Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack and I used Whisper White 5/8" Satin Ribbon. On the bottom I used the Corner Rounder Punch and added a couple of clear Bitty Buttons punched with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punches in white underneath.

Blissful Butterflies

I'm really enjoying this SAB set "Bliss". I stamped Whisper White craft ink on a Early Espresso card. I put the stamp on a 45 degree angle to get this look. Along the side I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch on a strip of Whisper White card stock. The words are from "Curly Cute" and the butterflies were stamped in Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, and Melon Mambo. I cut them out and popped them up with Dimensionals.

Where to Put the Bow?

I just can't decide--do you like the bow on the top of the card or on the bottom? These cards were made with the SAB set "Sweet Summer" and colors used were Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, and Pear Pizzazz. The background paper is also from SAB called Ice Cream Parlor DSP and I used Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding Ribbon for the bow.

Pure Cuteness

I made this quilt awhile back for a very special little boy to match his room. I used a charm pack from the "Pure" line by Moda and cut part of the squares in half. Then, I sewed the blue (I call it Baja Breeze) polka dot fabric in between the squares. Here's Nash enjoying his quilt--he turned ONE this week!

Tree of Hearts

Here's a simple but cute idea for a Valentine. It's from "Valentine Defined" and made with Real Red, Early Espresso, and Whisper White. I stamped the heart tree on a Whisper White piece that I cut out with my Big Shot using the Top Note die. I tied a piece of 1/8" Real Red ribbon around it and stamped the trunk separately, cut it out, and adhered it to the tree. I used the new Framed Tulips Embossing Folder for the background and layered it on Early Espresso.

The winner of the give away is Sue F.

Blissful

This is another SAB set called "Bliss". It also comes with a flower, bird, and the word "BLISS". I used Whisper White Craft ink on Crumb Cake card stock. The words are from "Curly Cute". I stamped the butterfly in Rose Red, cut it out, popped it up with Dimensionals, and added Basic Pearls. On the bottom I cut three rows of Last I added a bow with the new Rose Red Seam Binding ribbon from the Occasions Mini Catalog.
