Wacky Watermelons

Most people will be celebrating the end of summer this weekend--not so much in Arizona.  I'm hoping it will cool down maybe by Halloween?  I thought this was the perfect time to share this summery quilt I made for my daughter-in-law, Aubree, for a shower gift.  I wish I could have taken a picture of the whole quilt, but it's just too big.  So, here's some shots of the wacky watermelon log cabin quilt.

Love These Colors

I'm definitely hooked on this color combo:  Night of Navy, Gumball Green, and Melon Mambo.  Here's a cute story behind this card.   I had a childhood friend over (in Michigan) to visit.  She didn't know I was such a stamping addict until I showed her the little sun room in the cottage we were renting.  It was packed with all my stamping stuff including ink pads, card stock, my Big Shot, and card samples.  After our little tour, she told me she was coming back next week and bringing her daughter.  They arrived and we headed straight for the "stamping room".  Her daughter seemed excited about everything I showed her especially when I asked her if she would like to make a card.  We used the "Quint-Essential" stamp, some embossing folders, and lots of punches.  Thanks, Jessica for the photo of your card before you took it home!

Just Beachy

I fell in love with the oars on the front of the cottage we rented.  Too cute!

Here's the view from the cottage porch.  My favorite lighthouse--we grew up together!

I had my choice of lighthouses to walk to every morning.  I loved hearing the foghorn--it reminded me of my youth.  Before air conditioning, we slept with the windows open during the summer and could hear its low, warning sound on foggy mornings.

Here's a close up, complete with some perfect clouds.

I thought this was interesting to have a window below a door and a door with no stairs.

Here's one last close up of the top.  It's big enough to walk around, just like in the movies.

All good things must come to an end--goodbye Lake Michigan, I will miss you!

Flip Flops

This has pretty much been my footwear the past few weeks--not complaining a bit.

Throw in a little knitting on the beach and that makes one happy camper!

Fabulous You

Isn't this shoe stamp darling?  I stamped it in Basic Black, cut it out, and popped it up with Dimensionals.  I also stamped the words from this set "Fabulous You" and cut them out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits.  I added two Silver Mini Brads and some new 1/2" Striped Ribbon from the Holiday Mini.  I used  Pool Party from the  Designer Series Paper Stacks along with Basic Black and Basic Gray card stock for the background.

Autumn Apples

I stamped these cute little apples in Real Red with the stamp set "Perfectly Preserved".  The stems and border along the bottom were made with Gumball Green and I used the Scallop Border Punch and the Paper-Piercing Tool to make it.  Then, I put Versamark ink on the background stamp "Distressed Dots" and stamped it on Crumb Cake.  The words are also from "Perfectly Preserved" and I cut them out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Die.  Last, I added some Basic Black 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.

Evergreen

Isn't this a beautiful tree?  I stamped it in Cherry Cobbler and Bashful Blue to match the coordinating paper from the Holiday Mini.  This paper stack measures 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" and is called "Festival of Prints".  It has 48 sheets of double-sided designs including reds and greens for Christmas cards.  I used the new "Evergreen" stamp set and the words are from "Joyous Christmas".  I also added a Cherry Cobbler 3 1/2" Scalloped Tulle Ribbon.  Love this extra fluff!

From My Heart

This stamp set called "From My Heart" came out in the new catalog in June, but I haven't had a chance to play with it until now.  I saw a similar card and decided I needed to copy it (almost).  I used Pool Party and Basic Black.  After I stamped the image I used the Labels Collection Framelits to punch out this shape.  Then, I used the Apothecary Accents Framelits to make the Basic Black shape it is mounted on.  The Whisper White background was made with the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder from the Holiday Mini.  Last, I added a 3/8" Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon bow.

International Bazaar

I just got this new DSP called "International Bazaar" and wanted to use some of the different prints.  So, I punched the shapes with three different sheets of paper using the Curly Label Punch.  The words are from "Lacy and Lovely".  Last,  I added some Flower Brads and Lucky Limeade 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon.

Very Tiny Vases

I made this card layering two stamps from "Lacy and Lovely" I stamped them in Tempting Turquoise and Real Red.  I used the Stripes Embossing Folder and the Summer Smooches DSP for the background.  Last, I added a Brights Button and some White Baker's Twine.

Mostly Melon Mambo

Here's a way to layer textures!  I used the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder for the background and layered the Chevron piece with Dimensionals on top of it.  I stamped the cake from "Make a Cake" in Melon Mambo and Soft Suede.  The words are from "Seasonal Sayings" from the Holiday Mini.
